Cruising
The cruising program of OLSC includes day cruises, over night cruises and
extended cruises of a week or more.
Day cruises usually last for an afternoon and may include a stop somewhere
for a meal at a local restaurant, rafting up for a swimming session or
other on the water activity.
Over night cruises usually are held on a weekend or over a holiday. A
destination is announced. Boats may leave individually or in groups and
meet to anchor together for the night. Late afternoon and evening activities
may include swimming, food swaps and general socializing. Boats leave
the next morning to return home at their leisure.
One extended cruise is scheduled each year. This involves taking the
canal to some other lake. In the past we have gone to Seneca Lake, Lake
Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Special training sessions are held
to help new cruisers learn the skills they may need on a long cruise.
